George Jeremiah West, 77, of Oneida, passed away February 27, 2014, at his home.

Born in Pine Knot, Kentucky, March 24, 1936, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Luke West and Laura Whalen; daughter, Nina Ball Sexton; son, Johnny Delynn West; and grandson, Derek Shane Ball.

He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of Murphy Ridge Community Church in Strunk, Ky.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Watters West of Oneida; daughter: Daphne (David) Day of Oneida; sons: Randall West and Dwight West, both of Oneida; daughter-in-law, Darlene West of Oneida; grandchildren: Wesley Ball of Whitley City, Ky., Dalton Sexton of Knoxville, Jordan and Kable West, Celeste Buttram, and Adrian Terry, all of Oneida, and David Lee Day and Joshua West, both of Dalton, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, sisters: Erna (Lance) Day of Stearns, Ky., Sharon (Pete) Bolin, and Pernia Lewis, both of Pine Knot, Ky., and Navada Haynes of Somerset, Ky.; brother, Carl (Buddy) King of Stearns, Ky.; several nieces, nephews,  cousins, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted March 2, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida with Bro. Lawrence (Bobby) Hill officiating. Music was provided by Jim Hill. Interment followed at Kingtown Cemetery.
