Marijke J. Van Fleet Silvent, passed away peacefully February 19, 2014, after a brave battle with triple-negative breast cancer in Leesburg, Virginia.
Born in Akron, Ohio, April 1, 1973, she attended schools through tenth grade in College Station, Tex. She graduated from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., and earned a BA from Northern Arizona University in Broadcast Communication, with minors in biology and psychology. She was a reporter-journalist and television news anchor in Tenn., Ariz., Texas, and Indiana; later working in public relations at Donate Life of Arizona, Arizona Game & Fish, and Scottsdale Unified School District. She had a life-long love of animals and nature; a passionate love of hockey, music, and photography; but most of all, she loved motherhood.
She is survived by her parents, David and Ella Webb Van Fleet of Scottsdale, Ariz.; husband, Edward F. Silvent, and sons, Edison and Cajetan Silvent, of Leesburg, Va.; brother, Dirk of Burbank, Calif.; grandmother, Flonnie Webb Stephens of Oneida; aunts and uncles: Etta Webb Price of Oneida, Mary Lou Clark of Farmland, Ind., Lynna Ruth Standridge of Chattanooga, Kathy Van Fleet of Claif., Patti Petruzzi of Pa., John Van Fleet of Pa., and Bob Van Fleet of Oak Ridge; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was to have been conducted Wednesday, February 26, at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Saint John Cemetery, Leesburg, Va.
