WARTBURG — Grace Christian Academy used a big fourth quarter to its advantage here Monday, out-scoring Oneida 23-13 to claim a 56-48 win and eliminate the Lady Indians one game shy of the sub-state for a second consecutive year.

Oneida led 35-33 heading into the fourth quarter of a relatively low-scoring game, but Grace Christian found ways to score points in the final period of a game that saw the Rams shoot 51 percent compared to just 32 percent by Oneida.

In her final high school game, Oneida's Micah Stephens scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down a career-high 20 rebounds. Baylee Newport added 12 points, while Victoria Williams came off the bench to score 11 points and grab eight rebounds.

Syndey Duggins scored 13 points to lead Grace Christian.

The Lady Indians dominated the glass, out-rebounding Grace Christian 40-26 while grabbing 17 offensive rebounds. Nine of those offensive boards were Stephens'.

But it was not enough to make up the difference on a night when Grace managed to stifle Oneida's offensive production.

Nevertheless, the Lady Indians traded the lead back-and-forth with the Rams for the first three quarters, leading 25-24 at halftime and 35-33 at the end of three.

Grace started the fourth quarter with seven straight points, however, and eventually built a 42-36 lead. Oneida trimmed that in half with a 3-point shot by Newport but could get no closer.

Later, the Lady Indians would mount another charge after Grace had built a 47-41 lead with 3:27 to play. Back-to-back shots by Williams and Stephens cut the advantage to 47-45 and forced Grace to make a time out.

But a chance to tie the game came up empty, and Grace hit a pair of free throws to expand the lead back to four.

The next trip, Rachael Thomas hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 49-48 with two minutes to play. But Grace answered on the next trip down court, then used a tough defensive effort to hold Oneida at bay.

Mondayís game was the last for Oneida seniors Stephens, Thomas, Destini Carson, Kelsie Caldwell and Brittany Stephens.
