Reuben Charles Duncan, 89, of Winfield, passed away February 13, 2014, at Physicians Regional Hospital in Knoxville.

Born in Winfield, April 18, 1924, he was preceded in death by his parents, James Harrison and Arminda Murphy Duncan; sisters: Marie Murphy, Iris Ward, Ruth Martin and Pearl Martin; brothers: Lawrence, Ray, Forest, Hurstle and Willard Duncan; and nephew, Forest Duncan.

He was a member of First Baptist Church-Oneida; joined the United States Navy and was a Cockswain during World War II, serving at Iwo Jima, Okinawa and in the Pacific. He was a member of Oneida Masonic Lodge #695 F&AM, American Legion post #136 and VFW post #5669; served on the Planning Commission for the town of Oneida; and was a truck driver for many years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Christine Stanley Duncan of Winfield; daughter, Karen (Willard) Terry; son, Gerald (Lane) Duncan; grandchildren: Jerry Terry, Gary Terry, Amylane Harwood and Eric Duncan; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Masonic service and funeral service was conducted February 16, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Delyn Phillips and Bro. David Smith officiating. Graveside service was conducted February 17, at Chitwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion post #136 of Oneida.
