Josie Frances Duncan Hicks, 82, passed away peacefully February 9, 2014, at home with family by her side.
Born in Fentress County, February 1, 1932, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Trannie Conatser Duncan; brothers: Manuel, Morris, Archie, Garment, Jim, Pete, Johnny, and George Duncan; and sisters: Myrtle Seabolt, Bertha Garrett, Hattie Garrett, and Rosie Smithers.
She was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church; was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and bird watching.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, G.W. Hicks; daughters: Judy Buttram and Louetta (Willard) Perkins; sons: Gillis (Cheryl) Hicks, Wayne Hicks, and Kevin (Jackie) Hicks; grandchildren: Gin Winchester, Chrystal Bowling, Travis Perkins, Leann Fairchild, Justin Hicks, Traci Hicks, Tanner Hicks, and Darius Hicks; great-grandchildren: Courtney, Dawson, Rylin, Sawyer, Alex, Devin, Jacie, Alyssa, Cain, Jacob, and Haley; sister, Osha Jones; brother, Gilbert (Carol) Duncan; sister-in-law, Jackie Duncan; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted February 15, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Massengale officiating. Graveside service was conducted February 16, at Mt. Helen Cemetery, Fentress County.
