ALCOA, Tenn. — Victoria Lloyd scored 24 points in Monday’s District 4-AA consolation game at Alcoa, but Catholic’s Hannah McCormack and Susan Kenny teamed up for 30 as the Irish defeated the Lady Highlanders 57-47.

Scott led 26-25 at halftime, and entered the fourth quarter in a 35-35 deadlock with Catholic, but the Irish owned the final period, pulling away for the win by outscoring the Lady Highlanders 22-12 in the final eight minutes.

In a game where free throws reigned supreme late, Scott got to the line 13 times in the final period, hitting six, while Catholic shot seven of 11 from the line down the stretch.

Kenny scored eight of her 14 in the fourth to help the Irish pull away for the win.

Lloyd hit six of eight free throw attempts in the fourth quarter, while Monica Roberts scored all six of her points in the final minutes, but it would prove to be too little for the Lady Highlanders, who will travel to face the District 3-AA champion on Friday. That team will be either Knox Fulton or Gatlinburg-Pittman. The two teams earned wins in Monday’s district semifinals and will meet Tuesday in championship action.

SCOTT (47): Victoria Lloyd 24, Jessica Edwards 7, Monica Roberts 6, Merry Carson 6, Sarah Lloyd 4.

CATHOLIC (57): Hannah McCormack 16, Susan Kenny 14, Hope Hopson 8, Ali McLaughlin 6, Brittany Scott 5, DeLaney Lowery 5, Alanah Storey 3.
