Gladys Simpson Jeffers, 85, of the Fairview community, passed away January 31, 2014, at the Huntsville Manor.
Born in Balton, Ky., on January 25, 1929, she was preceded in death by her parents, Oza and Bertha Hill Simpson; husband, Ira Jeffers; son, Douglas Scott Jeffers; brother, Ova (Bud) Simpson; granddaughter, Sabrina Washam; grandson, Cpl. Rusty Lee Washam; great granddaughter, Rustie Abbigayle Washam; in-laws Stephen and Anna Smithers Jeffers; brothers-in-law Rhonda Jeffers, Verlon Byrd, Roy Moon, and Junior Lindsey; and sister-in-law Joann Simpson.
She was a born again Christian and a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters: Deborah Washam and husband, Woody, and Beverly Washam and husband, Sonny, all of Fairview; grandchildren: Darian Washam, Michelle Washam, Misty Day, Donny Washam, Lilly Lewis, Dustin Washam, Erian Washam, Chastian Lewis, Kayla Goodman and Syngine Jeffers; 25 great-grandchildren: Kasie, Cody, Chelsey, Cory, Alyssa, Tristen, Kaven, Josh, Trey, Danny, Taylor, Amanda, Wyatt, Ryan, Andrew, Gracie, Jordana, Ericka, Isaiah, Dominyk, Hope, Landon, Brailey, Jaxon, and Faith; two great-great grandchildren, Tynleigh and Liam; sisters: Mildred Moon and Vivian Lindsey, both of Knoxville, and Geraldine and Oscar Brock, Jacksboro; brothers: Luster (Buster) and Sue Simpson and Oza (Junior) and Marlene Simpson, all of Caryville, and H.L. Simpson; special friend, Suzie Lawson, and many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service was held February 2 at the Fairview Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Michael Ray Jeffers officiating. Music was provided by the Fairview Choir, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and Jordan Sims and Sujon Fry. Interment followed in the Fairview Memorial Garden.
