OAKDALE — Baylee Newport finished with 13 points and six assists, while Micah Stephens recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds, as Oneida defeated Oakdale 52-34 Friday to improve to 9-0 in District 4-A play.

The Lady Indians, who are on a collision course with Oliver Springs for a regular season title showdown in Roane County on Feb. 7, jumped to a big lead early and did not relinquish it as they completed a season sweep of Oakdale.

Oneida led 15-8 after the first quarter and nearly doubled it in the second, taking a 30-17 lead to the half.

The Lady Indians shot 42 percent from the field for the game, which was unusual in that neither team shot a free throw until the final three minutes of the contest.

With Stephens showing the way, Oneida dominated the glass with a 39-20 rebounding advantage.

Oneida, which has won six straight games and 12 out of 13 since losing to William Blount on a last-second 3-point shot at the Anderson County Christmas Classic, will travel to Cosby on Saturday for a non-district battle against one of East Tennessee's premier Class A programs.

ONEIDA (52): Baylee Newport 13, Micah Stephens 11, Jessi Morgan 9, Victoria Williams 6, Rachael Thomas 5, Destini Carson 3, Kelsie Caldwell 2, Shelby Thompson 2.

OAKDALE (34): Micaiah Allen 10, Sierra Snow 9, Autumn Monkhouse 7, Natalie Rogers 5, Bailey Pease 3.
