HUNTSVILLE — Just minutes after being crowned homecoming queen, Victoria Lloyd led her team in scoring with 11 points against Kingston here Friday, but Kingston ultimately left Highlander Gymnasium with the win, 48-41.

Tori Strahan scored 13 points and Kalli Sampson added 11, and the Yellow Jackets led Scott most of the night.

Jessica Edwards finished with a double-double for Scott, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Montana Phillips had nine rebounds.

Scott led 11-8 after the first quarter, but Kingston limited the Lady Highlanders to two field goals in the second to build a 19-15 halftime lead and never trailed again. The Yellow Jackets kept up the pestering defense in the third, limiting Scott to one field goal, and built a double-digit lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Highlanders found their touch in the final period, shooting for 22 points to exceed their total from the first three quarters combined. But Kingston was able to shoot well enough at the free throw line — 13 of 17 in the fourth quarter alone — to keep any hopes of a comeback at bay.

SCOTT (41): Victoria Lloyd 11, Jessica Edwards 10, Monica Roberts 8, Merry Carson 5, Meotia Harness 3.

KINGSTON (48): Tori Strahan 13, Kalli Sampson 11, Rachel Layne 8, Taylor Thurman 8, Lauren Baggett 4.
