Robert L. Adkins, 79, of Winfield, passed away January 6, 2014, at home with his family by his side.

Born in Winfield, December 16, 1934, he was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Bessie Adkins; sisters: Jean Linger and Jo Ann Thompson; and brothers, Philip and Haven Adkins.

He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Baptist Church, a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War, enjoyed working with wood, and was a talented cabinet maker.

He is survived by his daughter, Cyndi White and husband, Randy, of Oneida; sister, Shirley McCreary of Astor, Fla.; brother-in-law, Roy Thompson; grandchildren: Luke Robert and Cydney Celeste White; nephews and niece: Mike Meadors, Doug Linger, Harvey Chitwood, Travis Chitwood, and Bonnie Beckman; cousin, Norman Chitwood and wife, Ann; special friend, Greg Stephens; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted January 9, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Campbell and Bro. Robert Blakenship officiating. Graveside service was conducted January 10, at Adkins Cemetery with full military honors provided by American Legion Post #136 of Oneida.

Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
