Michael C. Barger, 66, of Helenwood, passed away December 26, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, following a brief illness.

Born in Corbin, Kentucky, April 19, 1947, he was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pernia Goad Barger; infant brother, brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Dean Barger; and grandparents: Henry and Martha McCormick Barger, and Otis and Mary Walker Goad.

He was a 1965 graduate of Huntsville High School, and majored in history at Cumberland College. He was employed with Proctor & Gambel in Cincinnati, Ohio; worked at the Huntsville Sewage Treatment facility, Tibblas/Hartco Flooring Company, and a coal truck driver. He worked in Chatsworth, Ga., at a talc mining operation and as a U.S. southern states truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, following Nascar, and gardening.

He is survived by his nephew, Nathan Barger of Helenwood; Mary Elizabeth (Beth) Posey of Oneida, and her six grandchildren; Darrian Elizabeth Pemberton, numerous cousins, and many other relatives.

His wish was cremation.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
