HUNTSVILLE — While still awaiting its provider number from the state, Pioneer Community Hospital of Scott is up and running with five inpatients and “a very, very busy ER,” according to Mayor Jeff Tibbals in a report to county commissioners during their regular monthly work session here Monday evening.
Mayor Tibbals said that the hospital has met all requirements to be assigned a critical care facility provider number, which opens the door to allow billing for Medicare and Medicaid patients.
In advance of that last hurdle in the reopening of the facility, Pioneer is looking at hiring additional staff members to accommodate additional patients, Tibbals said.
