In 2013, local headlines were dominated by efforts to reopen the hospital, the war on drugs, a struggling economy and community tragedies. As we look ahead to 2014, it is not likely that the hospital or the fight against drug abuse will cease to make headlines. But here — in no particular order — are five things that are likely to make headlines as we proceed through the next 12 months.
