HARRIMAN — Oneida started slow, then took command against Kingston Saturday, winning 59-44 to close out a perfect Harriman Christmas Classic.

Oneida trailed by as much as 10 points in the first half, and was down 24-15 at the half, shooting just 16 percent against a Kingston team that had also gone 2-0 in the first two games of the tournament.

But the second half was all Oneida. The Lady Indians went on a 14-0 run to start the third quarter, and held Kingston without a field goal for seven minutes while building a 43-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Jessi Morgan finished with 14 points for Oneida to lead the Lady Indians in scoring. Baylee Newport finished with nine points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Micah Stephens had nine points and seven rebounds. Destini Carson finished with eight points and six rebounds.

For the game, Oneida shot 39 percent from the field and 65 percent from the free throw line, while limiting Kingston to 29 percent shooting and out-rebounding the Yellow Jackets 40-33.

Oneida, which had defeated Harriman and Rockwood earlier in the tournament, finished play in Harriman with three wins in three days, and won five out of six overall during the Christmas break.
