Elsie J. Sexton, 95, of Oneida, passed away December 13, 2013 at the Tennova Healthcare in Knoxville.
Born in Scott County, May 23, 1918, she was preceded in death by her parents, William Barney and Bertha Jeffers; husband, Clifton Sexton; sisters: Chelsea Reed and husband, Jesse, and Mabel Guy and husband, Buddy.
She was saved in October 1932, and was an active member of First Baptist Church, where she taught the Blessings of the Lord and sang in the church choir. She was a dedicated servant and a deaconís wife who loved the Lord and remembered he was always came first in her life.
She is survived by her son, William Terry Sexton and wife, Delorse; grandchildren: Allen Sexton, and Lori Sexton; great-grandchild, Madison; special nieces and nephews: Yvonne Phillips, Jerrell and Wanda Reed, Belia and Allyn, Debbie and Kevin, Rhonda and Alan, and Michael and Melinda; and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted December 16, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home in Oneida with Bro. Doug White and Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Music was provided by Regina Leeds, and Lori Sexton. Graveside service was conducted December 17, at Hazel Valley Cemetery.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
