Earnest Day, 73, of the Capital Hill community, passed away December 13, at Summit View of Lake City Nursing Home Alzheimerís Unit in Lake City, with his family by his side.

Born in Scott County, July 30, 1940, he was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Jane Smitty Day; daughter, Donna Kay Day; brothers, Hubert, Kermit, Mitt, and Nelson Day; sisters: Lillie Walden, Erma Harness, Della Harness, and Betty Harness; brothers- and sister-in-law: Charles Blakley, Randall Colwell, Charlene Colwell; and father-in-law, Don Blakley.

He was a member of Capital Hill Baptist Church; was retired from Southern Railroad Company; and was a loving husband, father, papaw, and brother.

He is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Wilba Mae Day; children: Theda Lynn Lay and husband, Mikle, of the Rock House community, Tony Ray Day and wife, Lesa, of the Ditney Trail community, Charles Earnest Day and wife, Sarah, of Wisconsin, and David Day and wife, Keila, of Lake City; grandchildren: Brandon Lay, Heather Reed, Britteny Strunk, Karleigh Day, Evan Day, and Holden Day; two great-grandchildren, brother-in-law, Jimmy and Sarah Blakley; special friends: Oscar and Cindy Lowe, and Marty and Sherry Reed; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted December 15, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Bobby Massengale and Bro. Pete Norman officiating. Music was provided by Sherry Reed, and Tammy Hutson. Graveside service was conducted December 16, at Botts Cemetery.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
