HUNTSVILLE — It is not often that you shoot nearly 50 percent from the field and out-score your opponent at the free throw line and still come up on the short end of the scoreboard.

That was the unfortunate result for Scott Friday evening, however, as the Highlanders lost their District 4-AA opener to Knox Catholic, 51-49.

The Irish were able to come from behind in the second half to earn the win, mainly behind Luke Smith. After the Highlanders appeared to be in control of the game at halftime, leading 27-13, Smith hit three big 3-point shots in the third quarter and scored all 11 of his points in the second half as Catholic clawed back into it.
