Beulah Gerlean West Byrd, 89, of Oneida, passed away November 27, 2013, at Huntsville Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Huntsville.
Born in Helenwood, July 5, 1924, she was preceded in death by her parents, Reason and Ethel Cecil West; husband, Argil E. Byrd; and numerous aunts and uncles.
She joined the First Baptist Church of Oneida on October 1, 1937, where she remained a member. She and her husband worked together in numerous businesses, community club activities and their church until his death. She worked several years and retired from the Tennessee Railroad; was an active member of the Sapphire Chapter #259 Order of Eastern Star, the auxiliary of American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and VFW until her declining health caused her to retire.
She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and her care givers for the past seven years from Huntsville Manor.
Funeral service was conducted November 30, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dale Smith officiating. Music was provided by Jerry Smith, Linda Lay, and Imogene Laxton. Interment followed at Carson Memorial Park.
West-Murley Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
