MacArthur (Mac) Burchfield, 71, of Oneida, passed away November 21, 2013, at his home with his family by his side.
Born in Scott County, August 15, 1942, he was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Lizzie Burchfield; brother: Clyde Burchfield; and sister: Mildred Burchfield Dexter and husband Arther.
He was a faithful member of the West Oneida United Baptist Church. He retired as chief of police in Oneida, where he worked in law enforcement for over 34 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joann Burchfield; son: Greg ìPodgeî Burchfield and wife Michelle, of the Paint Rock community; grandchildren: Colby, Jadon and Elijah Burchfield, all of the Paint Rock community; brothers: Milford Burchfield and Charles (Kathryn) Burchfield, both of Oneida; sisters: Alma (Charlie) Duvall and Virginia Bilbrey, of Oneida, and Faye Winchester, of Nashville; brothers-in-law: Billy Ray (Pat) Jeffers and Roger (Millie) Jeffers of Clinton, Tenn., and Doug (Ann) Jeffers of Chatsworth, Ga.; sisters-in-law: Wilma Burchfield of Oneida, Phyllis Lloyd of Norma and Carolyn (Carl) Smith of Chatsworth, Ga.; special friends: Norton and Zelma Tate and Dr. Maxwell Huff and wife Cathy; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was conducted Sunday, November 24, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Ellis and Bro. Wayne Seabolt officiating. Intermet was in the Smith-Forbis Cemetery.
Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
