William Thomas (Tom) Phillips, Sr., 96, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Decatur, Georgia, passed away November 8, 2013.

Born in Oneida, December 25, 1916, he was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Thomas L. and Faye Eola Buttram Phillips; first wife, Eileen Floyd Phillips; second wife, Ruth Zimmer Phillips; son, William Thomas Phillips, Jr.; and sisters, Ann McCroskey Langworthy and Ruth Phillips Coffey.

He graduated from Oneida High School where he served as president of his class, and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. In the early years of his career he was the executive director of the Florida Heart Association, and later went to work for the National Kidney Foundation as field director.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia M. Schaar and husband, William, of Naples, Fla.; grandson, Walter James McBath, III; and many other relatives.

Fuller Funeral Home, Naples, Fla., had charge of arrangements.
