By a 45-vote margin out of more than 650 votes cast, Dorothy Hill Watson won election to the Highland Telephone Cooperative's board of directors Saturday afternoon.

Watson received 350 votes, while incumbent and fellow Oneida resident Clara Terry received 305 votes, according to numbers released by HTC.

Watson will represent the 569/286 exchange on the HTC board, along with Jim Terry, who was not up for re-election.

Other HTC board members from Scott County, also not up for re-election today, include Jan Byrd in the 663 exchange and Johnny Tate in the 627 exchange.

Terry, a long-time representative on the HTC board, most recently served as the board's secretary.

Watson, a dental hygienist at Baird Dentistry in Oneida, also serves on the Oneida Special School District Board of Education. She was married to the late Richard Watson. She has two children, Jessica Watson Anderson, and husband Corey, and Preston Watson.
