Richard Henry Bowling, 77, passed away October 28, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Knoxville.

Born in Scott County, April 4, 1936, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ewell and Leura Elizabeth Newport Bowling; brothers: Howard, Homer and wife, Margaret, Haskel, C. Halk and wife, Lucille, Emit and wife, Retha Mae, and James Fred Bowling; sister, Mary Lucille Thomas and husband, James Henry; nieces and nephews: Wanda Jean and William S. Brawner, Howard Clemon Bowling, Bessie Sharon Jacks, Paul Thomas, and Carolyn Sue, Johnny Lee, Marshall Buddy, and Danny Lee Bowling.

He was a member of Low Gap Baptist Church.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Kenneth Kenny Thomas, Lela Mae and Dr. Scott Brown, James Henry ìJimmyî Thomas, Shirlona Shirley Griffith, Debra Elaine and Dr. Peter L. Ferrer, Freeman H. and Phyllis Bowling, Emit Gale Bowling, Roger Darrel and Laurel Bowling, Ronald Joe and Jean Bowling, Wilma Jane King, Erma L. Oakes, Arnold and Geneva Bowling, Anna Ruth and Alonzo Lawson, Steve Alan and Lynda Bowling, and Charles H. and Belinda Bowling; special friends: Gladys Jeffers and Ross Chitwood; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted October 31, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Jeff Bowling officiating and eulogies by Dr. Scott Brown and Dr. Sean Newport. Music was provided by Christa Newport, Vivol Robinson, and Sloan Wright. Interment followed at Newport Cemetery.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
