Ray O. Chitwood, Jr., 86, of Oneida, passed away October 21, 2013, at home with his family by his side.

Born in Scott County, July 13, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Fernie Chitwood; infant son, Michael Chitwood; brothers, Leland Chitwood and wife, Edna, and infant, Caney Chitwood; mother- and father-in-law, Jerry and Mary Stephens; and son-in-law, David West.

He was a professed Christian and member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he loved to hear Godís word. He loved the outdoors, ginsenging, and farming.

He is survived by his wife of more than 66 years, Ruth Chitwood of Oneida; daughter, Linda Day and husband, Paul; son, Tim Chitwood wife, Lorene; grandchildren: Andi King, David Chitwood, Leah Strunk, Kaley Chitwood, and Addison Losey; great-grandchildren: Kaden, Jillian, Jolene, Chloe, Makenna, and Journee; sister, Pauline Douglas; brother, Jack Chitwood and wife, Jo; sister-in-law, Dora Strunk; special friend, Ray Sexton; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted October 22, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Davis officiating. Music was provided by Rose West, the Chitwood Family, and Dallas West. Graveside service was conducted October 23 at Chitwood Cemetery.

Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
