James Michael "Mike" Taylor, 53, of Winfield, passed away suddenly, September 7, 2013.

Born in Dayton, Ohio, April 19, 1960, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Rev. and Mrs. Freddie Peters, and Mrs. and Mrs. Joe E. Taylor; father-in-law, Jessie "Dutch" Stephens; and aunt, Roxie Pergram.

He loved his church family, and his kids on his church van. He loved many people and loved doing many things, but most of all he loved his Lord. He was a dedicated Christian to this church where he spent the last couple hours of his life.

He is survived by his parents. James Edward and Wilma Peters Taylor; wife, Barbara Stephens Tyra Taylor; the mother of his children, Mary Katherine Litton Spradlin and husband, Steve; daughters: Keisha Nicole Newport and husband. Gerard, of Murfreesboro, and Kendra Sue Tyra Overton of Winfield; sons: Christopher James Taylor, Kenny Tyra and wife, Reva, and Trent Tyra and wife, Paula; grandchildren: Alexis Neveah and Brooklyn Isabella Newport, Kirby Chitwood, Baleigh Smith, Makayla Byrge, Mollie Overton, Colby Tyra, Brad and Shay King, and Justyn Lynch; brother, Paul Taylor and wife, Tammie; sister, Nola Jean Taylor and son J.P.; special cousin, Elaine Draughn and Darrell;  mother-in-law, Ruth Stephens; brother- and sisters-in-law, Vena and Allan, Beulah and Ken, Jeff and Tyra, Rhonda and Roy, Roger, Mike, Teresa and Howard, Jeremy and Becky, Joy and John; aunts and uncles: Rev. Ronnie and Sharon Peters, Naomi Peters, and Margaret and Roy Bowling; model car buddies, the late Todd Massengale, Bart Hutson, Troy Hull, and Johnny Campbell; devoted friends, Dwight Murphy and Robert Tilley; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted  September 8, at Winfield Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Peters and Rev. David Smith officiating. Music was provided by family and friends. Interment  followed at Kingtown Cemetery.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
