The Oneida Special School District will soon be adding a part-time security assistant at the middle school-high school complex.
The school district's board of education on Thursday gave its approval to an annual Safe Schools grant that will be used to pay for the security officer.
According to Ann Sexton, director of schools, the grant is typically used for cameras in schools or on school buses. However, she said the school system decided to go a different route this year.
