An Oneida couple were arrested Friday and charged with violation of Haley’s Law, stemming from injuries their one-month-old infant son received in June.
Robert Powell, 23, and Erica Matthews, 20, were charged with violation of Haley’s Law and taken into custody Friday.

According to warrants filed by Oneida Police Department investigator Shonda Duncan, the charges stemmed from June 12, when their son was taken to East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville and treated for a broken leg and bruising on the perineum.

According to the warrant, the infant “has a documented history of unexplained bruising” and was seen by a local physician “several times in the days prior to the Children’s Hospital visit.”
