Oneida is No. 2 in the East Tennessee Sportswriters Poll, preseason edition, for Class 2A.

The Indians placed behind Grace Christian Academy and ahead of Hampton, Rockwood and Oliver Springs, in that order, in Class 2A.

The poll is a vote of sports editors and sports writers from newspapers across East Tennessee. Participating newspapers include both dailies and non-dailies in most East Tennessee counties.

In Class 1A, Coalfield was a preseason number one, followed by Greenback, Cloudland, Copper Basin and Midway.

In Class 3A, Alcoa was number one, followed by CAK, Gatlinburg-Pittman, Sullivan North and Polk County.

Fulton was the No. 1 preseason team in Class 4A, followed by Greeneville, Elizabethton, Knox Catholic and Sequoyah.

In Class 5A, Oak Ridge was tops in the poll, followed by Knox West, Morristown West, Tennessee High and Lenoir City.

In Class 6A, the No. 1 team was Maryville, followed by Dobyns-Bennett, Sevier County, Powell and Science Hill.
