Helen Virginia Shoemaker, 92, of Oneida, passed away July 12, 2013, at Oneida Nursing and Rehab Center in Oneida.

Born in Fitzpatrick, West Virginia, August 23, 1921, she was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Dewitt and Etta Mae Tucker Martin; husband, Floyd Hurstle Shoemaker; daughter, Diane Sue Carlill; grandson, Christopher Wallace Marcum; and brothers, Edwin and Charles Martin.

She was a member of First Baptist Church-Oneida.

She is survived by her children: Felecia Gates and husband, Larry, of Nashville, Josetta McLaughlin and husband, Gerry, of Arlington Heights, Ill., Floyd Hurstle Shoemaker, II and wife, Jenny, Cheryl Butler, Martin Preston Shoemaker and wife, Barbara, Christy Ann Marcum and husband, Jerry, all of Oneida, and Boolie Jean Stephens and husband, Tom, of Knoxville; 21 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 20, from 4 p.m. until time of funeral service at 8 p.m., at First Baptist Church-Oneida with Dr. Doug White officiating. Entombment will be conducted at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 21, at Carson Memorial Mausoleum in Oneida.
