HUNTSVILLE —With the county’s budget on hold until the Board of Education adopts its budget, and the re-opening of the local hospital now within sight, County Commission’s regular monthly meeting was a bit calmer Monday night than has been the case over the past several months.

Monday’s meeting saw approval given to the Road Department’s request to borrow $600,000 to complete road repairs at Little Bull Creek and Big Bull Creek, with 75% of that figure to be reimbursed to the county by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Just after the meeting was called to order, County Mayor Jeff Tibbals stated, “I didn’t know about this until five minutes ago.”

Tibbals then called upon Road Supt. Dick Sexton to explain his request for a capital outlay note to be issued for the road work.
