Claude Edgar Jeffers, 94, of the Low Gap community, passed away July 4, 2013, at Oneida Nursing & Rehab Center in Oneida.

Born July 1, 1919, he was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. L. Maynard and Della Humphrey Jeffers; wife, Iris Blakley Jeffers; brothers: James, and two infants; sisters: Velma Christine Walker, Mary Helen Walker, and Elizabeth Freels; and in-laws: John H. and Pearl Blakley, Phyllis Jeffers, and Brian Boshears.

He worked as an accountant for Highland Telephone Cooperative, was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, and a member of Lowe Gap Baptist Church and the Masonic York Rite.

He is survived by his sons; Dennis E. Jeffers and wife, Patsy, and Keith A. Jeffers; grandchildren: Jessica Boshears, Drew Jeffers, Julie Albaugh, Steven Ross, and Michael Ross; great-grandchildren: Logan, Jordan, Colin, Hannah, Sabrina, Casey, Makenzie, Tanner, and Kennedy; sister, Vivian Bowling and husband, Bill; brother- and sisters-in-law: Sue and Jerry Reed, Arvis Blakley, Norvan and Barbara Blakley, and Dale Freels; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted July 6, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida with Bro. David Walker and Bro. Joe Walker officiating. Music was provided by Felecia Walker. Graveside service was conducted July 7, at Carson Memorial Park.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
