Floyd James Sexton, 90, passed away June 24, 2013, at Huntsville Manor and Rehab Center in Huntsville.
Born in Cordell, Tennessee, January 5, 1923, he was preceded in death by his parents, Gussie and Mountville Sexton; the mother of his children, Alma N. Sexton; son, James Marshall Sexton; grandson, Roger Allen Sharp; brothers: Dillard and Willow Sexton, Homer Gene Sexton, and infant, James; sisters; Nadine Carroll, and Oma and T.C. Smithers; and in-laws: Archie and Irene Lewallen, Coolidge, Eugene, Archie, Jr., and Irene June.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Lewallen Sexton; daughters; Patricia Jeffers and husband, Rexford, and Shirley Sharp and husband, Roger; sons: Tony Sexton and wife, Teresa, and Mark Sexton; grandson he raised, Floyd James Sexton, III, and wife, Jessica; grandchildren: Donna McDonald, Steven ìBoî Jeffers, Cynthia Sharp, Heather Sexton, Cody Sexton, Jesse Sexton, and Cole Sexton; great-grandchildren: Haley, Torey, Rayse, Kamden, Ashton, Nicholas, Jeremy, and Nieka; great-great-grandchildren: Hayden, Lucas, Harper, and Lauren; brother-in-law, Olando Carroll; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.
Funeral service was conducted June 26, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Carlie Duncan and Bro. Eli Crowley officiating. Music was provided by the Gospel Trio. Graveside service was conducted June 27, at Byrges Creek Cemetery.
Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
