HUNTSVILLE — No tax hike, a $200,000 reduction in expenditures, and an across-the-board four percent pay hike for county employees.

Those were among several surprises contained in a review of the FY 2013-2014 proposed budget delivered by County Commission’s Budget Committee Chairman Willie Boyatt Monday evening.

Surprising since the county has been working under a spending reduction mandate since April, which is expected to remain in effect through at least the first quarter (July-September) of the new fiscal year.
