HUNTSVILLE — County Commission was informed Monday evening that the target date for reopening the hospital is now Aug. 1, a month later than had been forecast.

County Mayor Jeff Tibbals said that due to the State Attorney General requesting additional material from Pioneer Health Service, and the subsequent time involved in providing it, resulted in a later starting date for the required 45-day review period.

Barring a further extension of that review period, Pioneer Health — which has already employed 18 people for the hospital start-up — is expected to shift into high gear, screening more than 400 applications for positions.
