HUNTSVILLE — The bats were cracking and runs came frequently during Fridayís softball matchup here, as Scott entered spring break on a high note with a 17-2 win over visiting Sunbright.

The Lady Highlanders roared to 14 runs in the first inning of a game that was called after three innings.

Alex Kazee started the bottom half of the first with a double that would later result in a score. She added two RBIs and another hit before the inning was finished.

Whitney Byrge followed Kazee's start with an RBI double. She would go on to score a run, then add another RBI double and another run before the inning was through.

Mariah and Marki Hall each scored two runs in the first inning, while Anna Sexton had two RBIs and two runs in the first.

Rachel Storey had a two-run single in the first, along with an RBI single and a run scored. Chelsey Kidd had a pair of RBIs and a run scored, while Bridget Chambers had a two-run single in her first at-bat, later scoring.

The Lady Highlanders kept the bats going in the second inning of a game that saw 18 players get in on the action, scoring two more runs to push the lead to 16-2. A final run was added in the third inning, scored by Cheyenne Alford.
