Rev. Thomas Harley Owens, 86, of Pioneer, passed away April 5, 2013, at his home.

Born August 15, 1926, he was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ettie Bell Owens; son, Dennis Scott Owens; and brothers and sister: Bill Owens, Hubert Owens, and Ethel Roberts.

He was a member of Jakeís Branch Baptist Church, where he served as Minister for more than 21 years and enjoyed preaching the gospel, and attending church. He was a loving, caring, and faithful man who loved spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred J. Owens of Pioneer; daughters: Betty Byrd and husband, Billy, Valerie Byrd and husband, Finley, and Kathy Lane and husband, Buck; sons: Donnie Owens and wife, Annette, and Jeff Owens and wife, Janice; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, brother, Damon Owens; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted April 7, in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville with Bro. Carlie Duncan officiating. Music was provided by Adam Hunley. Graveside service was conducted April 8, at Fairview Memorial Gardens.

Four Oaks Funeral Home of Huntsville had charge of arrangements.
