WHITLEY CITY — A Scott County man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor was nabbed in McCreary County last week.

Robert Lee Slaven, 43, of Helenwood, was apprehended by McCreary County authorities on Tuesday, Feb. 12, ending five months on the run from local authorities.

Slaven was originally arrested in Scott County on July 20, 2012, after Scott County Sheriffís Department investigators allegedly discovered at least 100 pornographic images on his personal computer and on compact discs depicting children between the ages of newborn and 18 years of age.

Authorities also allegedly seized marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a set of knuckles from Slavenís Helenwood residence, leading to additional charges of simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Slaven made bail in August 2012 and was released from jail. Authorities say he failed to appear at his next scheduled court appearance and has been on the run since that time.

Slaven was transported by McCreary County authorities to a jail in Laurel County, where he awaited extradition back to Scott County.
