HUNTSVILLE — A slow start proved to be Scott’s downfall here Thursday, as Kingston earned a 66-47 District 4-AA win after building a 36-11 halftime advantage.

Aaron Sampson scored 16 points while Brandon Griffis and Hunter Golliher each added 14 as the Yellow Jackets escaped with the victory. Logan Lowe scored 14 points to lead the Highlanders.

Lowe’s first points were Scott’s only points in the opening quarter, as Kingston jumped to a 13-2 lead after the first eight minutes.

The offense picked up in the second quarter for Scott, but also for Kingston, as the Yellow Jackets went on a 23-9 run to build a 36-11 halftime lead.

The Highlanders outscored the Yellow Jackets in the third and fourth quarters, with Lowe scoring 12 of his 14 in the second half.

Ten Highlanders wound up in the scoring column.

Stephen Butts led in rebounding, with six, while Matt Smithers added five boards. Kingston held a 40-27 edge in rebounding.

CAK 68, Scott 39: Brent Hendrick scored 21 points as CAK earned a 68-39 win at Highlander Gymnasium  Tuesday, Jan. 22.

Stephen Butts hit three 3-point shots and led the Highlanders with 11 points, but Kendrick’s 15 first half points was enough to power the Warriors to a 33-14 halftime advantage.

CAK out-scored Scott 17-8 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
