State Sen. Ken Yager, R-Harriman, and state Rep. Kelly Keisling, R-Byrdstown, said Monday they have been informed by the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) that the Scott County Airport will receive an $80,000 state grant.
The grant is available through TDOT’s Division of Aeronautics and totals $84,210 after a local match of $4,210 is added. The funds will be used for airport layout and planning purposes.
“Airport infrastructure is a very important economic development tool,” said Senator Yager. “I know from visiting this airport that much work has already been done. I am sure these funds will be put to good use.”
Only eight airports in the state received funding during this round of grants.
“There are many local citizens who utilize this airport,” added Rep. Keisling. “I am very pleased that these funds will be available to help with improvements and am hopeful that we will continue to see many more grants coming into Scott County in the future.”
