Roxie Elizabeth Taylor Stephens, 97, of Winfield, passed away January 12, 2013, with her family by her bedside.

Born in Scott County, October 28, 1915, she was preceded in death by her parents, John and Arisse Owens Taylor; husband, Ezra Stephens; son, Estol Ezra Stephens; all her brothers and sisters, daughter- and son-in-law, Susie West Stephens,  and Marvin Hicks; and brother-in-law, Everett Stephens.

She was saved and baptized in 1933 and was one of the oldest living, life-long members of New Light United Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Pat Hicks of Winfield; five grandchildren, special niece/caregiver, Tiny Cox of Winfield; 12 great-grandchildren, special niece, Nola Gayhart of Winfield; caregivers, Rita Chambers and Becky Garrett; and many other relatives.

Funeral service was conducted January 14, at New Light United Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Fults, Bro. Jim Strunk, and Bro. Melvin Stephens officiating. Music was provided by the New Light United Baptist Church Choir. Graveside service was conducted January 15, at New Light Cemetery.

Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
