LOUDON — A closely-contested game tilted in Loudon’s favor here Friday, as the Redskins defeated the Lady Highlanders, 53-40.

Zoe Grimes scored 17 points to lead three Loudon players in double figures, and the Redskins led throughout the night.

Merry Carson scored 10 points to lead the Lady Highlanders.

Scott (3-10, 0-3) trailed by nine points after the first quarter — which saw Aspen Jordan score eight of her 14 and Grimes add 7 — then played Loudon (8-8, 1-2) evenly the rest of the way.

The Lady Highlanders limited Loudon to two made field goals in the second quarter, out-scoring the Redskins 9-6 to cut the halftime deficit to 25-19.

But Loudon was able to widen the advantage to 10 in the third period, due in part to a pair of 3-point shots by Bre Snow, who finished with 11 points.

Carson had five steals in addition to her 10 points, while Victoria Lloyd finished with three steals and eight points.

Marki Hall led the Lady Highlanders on the boards, with five rebounds.

Scott shot 32 percent from the field and 64 percent from the free throw line.

Loudon owned a 31-20 rebounding advantage.

Scott was to have hosted Stone Memorial on Tuesday and will continue a three-game home-stand tomorrow (Friday) when Alcoa visits Highlander Gymnasium for a 6:30 p.m. start.
